How do the pyramid puzzles work?

For Pyramids 1A and 2A, students either add or multiply the two adjacent integers and continue working upward through the pyramid.

For Pyramids 1B and 2B, students work backward by subtracting or dividing to determine the missing values.

The puzzles can easily be differentiated by assigning:

  • A-level pyramids for focused skill practice
  • A and B-level pyramids together for a gradual increase in difficulty

These classroom-tested activities are perfect for 6th–8th grade math, Pre-Algebra, or Algebra 1 review. Your students will love the challenge while strengthening fluency with integer operations!
