This math visual is designed to help students solve word problems that involve integers. World problems that deal with positive and negative numbers utilize vocabulary that translates to the sign of the number. It can be difficult for some students to conceptualize where positive (and especially) negative numbers fit into real life contexts. Therefore, this visual can be used to help students assess whether specific words in word problems involving integers are asking for addition or subtraction, or in what direction they should move when looking at a number line. This resource can be hung in a classroom, or distributed to students to put in their notebooks for personal reference.
