Integer Vocabulary Words Poster

What others say

"The vocabulary is always the hardest part when working with integers. I am extremely surprised that students don't know what a deposit and withdrawl is. I used these by making them smaller to fit into composition notebooks, so students could refer to them as needed. "

Description

This math visual is designed to help students solve word problems that involve integers. World problems that deal with positive and negative numbers utilize vocabulary that translates to the sign of the number. It can be difficult for some students to conceptualize where positive (and especially) negative numbers fit into real-life contexts. Therefore, this visual can help students assess whether specific words in word problems involving integers ask for addition or subtraction or in what direction they should move when looking at a number line. This resource can be hung in a classroom or distributed to students to put in their notebooks for personal reference.
