Description

Scaffolded Power Point Lessons with Guided and Independent Practice are designed to teach skills, concepts and related problem solving applications. Review Task cards provide students with the guided practice and immediate reteach needed to ensure mastery. As an added note, the task cards are a favorite of parents because it allows them to check for understanding. Finally, we have thrown in quick notes as anchor charts.

Levels 1 - 12 Adding and Subtracting Integers

20 to 40 minute scaffolded lessons breaks down learning into a manageable chunks which helps ensure struggling learners master skills and concepts being taught. Each step by step lessons is followed by guided practice and independent practice problems. Most lessons are followed by application lessons where students read word problems and write equations to find the solution. Every few levels, review pages provide the needed practice and reinforcement needed to ensure learning transfers to long term memory.

These lessons are great for whole class instruction, differentiated small group instruction, and distance learning / home schooling. Review pages make great bell ringers.

Understand a rational number as a point on the number line. Extend number line diagrams and coordinate axes familiar from previous grades to represent points on the line and in the plane with negative number coordinates.
Find and position integers and other rational numbers on a horizontal or vertical number line diagram; find and position pairs of integers and other rational numbers on a coordinate plane.
Understand 𝘱 + 𝘲 as the number located a distance |𝘲| from 𝘱, in the positive or negative direction depending on whether 𝘲 is positive or negative. Show that a number and its opposite have a sum of 0 (are additive inverses). Interpret sums of rational numbers by describing real-world contexts.
