Description
Support children in developing independence and confidence with this Interactive Coping Strategies Menu!
Created by a dually certified BCBA and CCLS, this resource is grounded in child development and neurodiversity-affirming practice. It acknowledges that children regulate in many different ways—what works for one child may not work for another. That’s why this menu offers a wide variety of 24 coping strategies, including:
- Movement-based skills for kids who regulate through physical activity
- Quiet/calming strategies for children who prefer stillness
- Sensory-based options for children who benefit from sensory input
This menu can be printed, laminated, and set up with velcro or magnets so students can choose, swap, and practice coping skills in a way that feels accessible and empowering. It’s a hands-on, visual support that works beautifully in calm down corners, counseling sessions, ABA clinics, SEL lessons, or special education classrooms.
What’s Included:
✔ 1 Printable Coping Menu Base Board
✔ 24 Coping Strategy Cards with visuals & text
✔ Assembly Instructions (print, laminate, velcro/magnet)
Why BCBAs, Educators, & Counselors Love It:
- Neurodiversity-affirming: Respects that regulation looks different for every child
- Developmentally supportive: Offers strategies across movement, sensory, and calming domains
- Practical & reusable: Print once, laminate, and use year after year
- Empowering for kids: Gives students independence to choose coping strategies that truly work for them
✨ Help children build lifelong self-regulation skills with a tool that celebrates individual differences and child-centered learning.

Hi, I’m The Child Life BCBA! I’m a dual-certified Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) with master’s degrees in Child Life and Special Education: Applied Behavior Analysis. I’ve worked in both hospital and clinical settings, and I love supporting kids of all abilities, whether that’s through play-based ABA therapy, school supports, or child life services in the hospital. My passion is creating family-centered, neurodiversity-affirming resources that make developmental and emotional skills more accessible. My goal is to provide practical, research-based tools that BCBAs, CCLSs, educators, and families can use to help children build confidence, independence, and joy—wherever they are learning and growing!
