Description

These are the chapter 2 notes that go with the Go Math Series for grade 4. These are the notes that I use in my class, so I have notes for sections:

2.1 Multiplication Comparisons

2.2 Comparisons Problems

2.3 Multiply Tens, Hundreds, and Thousands

2.5 Multiply Using the Distributive Property

2.6 & 2.7 (combined...I feel like they teach the same thing) Multiply Using Expanded

Form/Partial Products

2.9 Multi-Steps Problems

2.10 Multiply 2-digit numbers with regrouping

2.11 Multiply 3-digit and 4-digit numbers with regrouping

2.12 Multi-step problems using equations

Most of the sections have FSA test prep questions that are aligned with the item specifications.

Multiply a whole number of up to four digits by a one-digit whole number, and multiply two two-digit numbers, using strategies based on place value and the properties of operations. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.
Interpret a multiplication equation as a comparison, e.g., interpret 35 = 5 × 7 as a statement that 35 is 5 times as many as 7 and 7 times as many as 5. Represent verbal statements of multiplicative comparisons as multiplication equations.
Multiply or divide to solve word problems involving multiplicative comparison, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem, distinguishing multiplicative comparison from additive comparison.
