A great way to assess understanding, and would make a great anticipation pretest. Allow them to answer before the lesson, give the lesson, and hand back, allowing them to see the correct answer. Collaboration is always a great tool for improved learning, and small groups could work this together or a think-pair-share strategy could be used effectively.
