This graphic organizer will serve as a graphic organizer or study guide to the standard. I typically create a brief study guide for each standard and hole punch it into my students binders. This will assist with interpreting the products of fractions and whole numbers. Understanding that multiplying by a fraction equivalent to one whole will keep the value the same. multiplying by a fraction greater than one will increase the original value and multiplying by a fraction less than one whole willd decrease the original value.

Explaining why multiplying a given number by a fraction greater than 1 results in a product greater than the given number (recognizing multiplication by whole numbers greater than 1 as a familiar case); explaining why multiplying a given number by a fraction less than 1 results in a product smaller than the given number; and relating the principle of fraction equivalence 𝘒/𝘣 = (π˜―Γ—π˜’)/(π˜―Γ—π˜£) to the effect of multiplying 𝘒/𝘣 by 1.
