In this project, students will interview someone they know who has been affected by discrimination and complete their choice of projects to present their interview. I have assigned this racism/discrimination interview project quite a few times over the years, so it has been tweaked and revised as I have learned what works and what doesn’t. This usually comes shortly after we finish reading Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry because I wanted to help my students realize that racism and discrimination are still very real issues today. The students really seem to get into it and appreciate the opportunity to talk to friends and family about their experiences.
