This interactive PowerPoint is a terrific introduction to adding two sets of the same object (adding more).

This lesson introduces a lovable character (to be used in following lessons) and the part-part mat (also included in the zip file). Students use cubes and follow along on their mats as Lola adds more on the screen. Using language first graders can understand and relate to, this lesson also introduces basic vocabulary necessary for Common Core math learners.
