Description
When students have not yet developed the distance formula on the Cartesian plane, finding the area of a triangle whose does not have two endpoints with the same respective x-value or y-value is difficult.
Here we introduce the difference method for finding area where we construct a rectangle around that triangle and then compute the triangle's area by taking the difference between the rectangle and the right triangles constructed around the triangle whose area we seek.
