Introduce the concept of coding to PreKindergarten Students with Play-Based Learning.
Coding is an abstract concept that young children cannot touch or see. This interactive lesson will have early learners up, moving, and creating while learning the concept of coding.This resource includes:
- Standards Based lesson that includes an interactive read aloud, movement activity, and stations or centers. Standards listed below.
- Interactive song to teach the concept of coding
- Cards to play the game Programmer Says. Can be printed in color or black & white.
- Slideshow to guide the lesson
- 7 task cards to place at stations. Identify stations and give students directions.
- Directions to play the 2 games Programmer Says & Stop and Walk
- Suggested materials and potential alternatives
- Standards Based lesson that includes an interactive read aloud, movement activity, and drawing activity. Standards listed below.
- Suggested picture books to read aloud that invite student interaction.
- Directed drawing activity that incorporates geometrical concepts (basic shapes) and positional words.
