This 2-part activity/assignment aims to introduce students to the world of scientific databases, specifically genomic databases. A brief background introduction is included for each part followed by an exercise (estimated time to complete 30 min/exercise). One part can be completed in class and the second assigned for homework. Answer key provided. Absolutely no special skills are required to complete the exercises, but does require some familiarity with genetic principles.
