- Introduction to Geometry (points, lines, planes, segments and rays): In this section, students will be able to identify, name and draw points, lines, planes, segments and rays
- Measuring Segments: In this section, students work on measuring segments using a ruler OR by finding the absolute value of the difference between given coordinate points
- Constructing Segments: In this section, students will learn the difference between "equal" and "congruent." Students will learn how to create congruent segments using a compass and determine if segments are congruent given coordinates.
- Segment Addition Postulate: In this section, students will determine segment lengths (whole and partial) given different pieces of information. Students will also solve linear equations for values of x, as well as solve then use substitution to determine segment lengths.
- Segment Bisectors: In this section, students are introduced to the idea of a midpoint and the role it plays in Geometry. Students will use this knowledge to continue to determine partial or whole segment lengths using a variety of different examples (including ones with linear equations).
- Midpoint Formula: In this section, students will use the midpoint formula to determine the midpoint of different segments. Students are given sets of points, as well as graphs where they are asked to create the segments and then label the midpoints.
- Distance Formula: In this section, students will use the distance formula to find the length of a segment in the coordinate plane. Students will also plot and connect points to create a shape, then use the distance formula to determine the longest and shortest sides.
- Area and Perimeter in the Coordinate Plane: In this section, student will use their knowledge of the distance formula to find the area and perimeter of squares, rectangles and triangles in the coordinate plane.
- Naming and Classifying Angles: In this section, students will learn how to name angles using a variety of pieces of information. Students will be able to identify if angles are acute, obtuse, right or straight.
- Angle Addition Postulate: In this section, students will determine angle measures (whole and partial) given different pieces of information. Students will also solve linear equations for values of x, as well as solve then use substitution to determine measurers.
- Angle Bisectors: In this section, the idea of bisectors in Geometry is reinforced with angles. Students will use this knowledge to continue to determine partial or whole angle measures using a variety of different examples (including ones with linear equations).
