Need engaging, inquiry-based activities? This bundle offers 4 resources related to how glaciers use erosion and deposition to shape the Earth's surface and how human activity is melting glaciers. The resources are as follows:

#1 Glacier Lab and Demonstration: This lab will guide students to use ice and move them across sand and clay. There are 2 versions for you to choose from. The first version has all steps described as student-led. The second version has the second part as a teacher-led demonstration, which is suggested to be used if supplies and prep time are a barrier. Materials needed: regular ice cubes, clay, sand, trays/plates, disposable plastic cups, pea gravel, and blow dryer.

#2 Glacier Concept Map: This concept map is a great way to see how key terms and concepts connect and overlap. Students will be asked to identify the types of glaciers, how glaciers are a part of Earth's water supply, types of glacial sediment, and glacial landforms.

#3 STEM Solutions to Glacial Melt Worksheet: Students are first asked to watch this video. Afterwards, students demonstrate their understanding of glaciers and identify the problem solving strategies that scientists are using to combat sea level rise. Scientists are using concepts of salinity, density, and temperature in their investigations. Through this, students are also able to understand the impact of human activity on the planet due to the use of fossil fuels. Students are also asked to reflect on the careers of the scientists and determine if they would like those careers.

#4 Glaciers Card Sort: This card sort will challenge your students by asking them to sort 45 cards by matching terms with definitions and images. The vocabulary terms include erosion, deposition, till, stratified drift, erratics, continental glacier, valley glacier, moraine, cirque, glacial horn, arete, esker, drumlin, kettle, and outwash plain.

Answer keys and teaching tips are included.
