Description

Introduce a geology unit.

Activate prior knowledge and engagement by giving students samples of minerals and rocks and hand lenses, and then asking them to answer some reflection questions.

Then show a video introducing the characteristics defining minerals. Students take notes, and then apply their knowledge to assess some new substances and classify them as minerals or non-minerals.
