Description
DNA isn’t just another macromolecule—it’s the key to everything in biology: cell division, heredity, protein synthesis, and evolution. That’s why this complete lesson bundle introduces students to the structure and function of nucleic acids (DNA & RNA) in a clear, accessible way that builds background knowledge while keeping students engaged from start to finish.
This resource was designed to be taught in Unit 1: Biochemistry, alongside the other macromolecules, but can work as a standalone or review lesson anytime you need to build DNA understanding. It includes free guided notes that keep students active, organized, and focused and 2 aligned activities that are inquiry-based, mission-focused, and fun!
What you will receive in THIS download after purchase:
- 1. The PowerPoint. A clean, modern slideshow perfect for direct instruction. Use in Microsoft PowerPoint 365 (recommended) or Google Slides. Text boxes are fully editable. Background images are secured (non-editable for copyright reasons), but you can easily add or remove slides.
- 2. A recorded version of the PowerPoint - both an MP4 file and an unlisted YouTube link. Great for absent students, sub days, or flipped classrooms.
- 3. A Student Version of the PowerPoint. In PPT and PDF forms with a watermark across each slide. This version is ready to post digitally for students who need access to content after class (see Terms of Use below)
- 4. Guided notes. Includes both a fill-in-the-blank and a completed version to support differentiation and note-taking success.
- 5. Healthy Heart Island Mystery (45 minutes). A story-based case study where students play the role of a doctor investigating a mysterious island population with no heart disease
- 6. DNA Station Lab (60-80 minutes). A 4-station DNA lab covering DNA and chromosome structure & function.
