This is a notes and worksheets resource to introduce your students to the fascinating world of logic and its symbolic representation. Designed specifically for Finite or Discrete Math classes, this lesson includes an introduction activity to give students exposure to logical operators, three pages of comprehensive notes, and a practice worksheet to reinforce students' understanding of said logical operators.

This resource includes:

⭐Introduction:

  • A reading passage which contains the vocabulary words: proposition, conjunction, disjunction, logical connectives, negation, simple, and compound.
  • A word search for students to get comfortable with the vocabulary words.

⭐Guided notes:

  • Definitions, examples, and exercises to help students discover the importance of logical statements and the symbols used to represent them.

⭐ Independent Practice:

  • A Practice worksheet that can be used as a warm up, group activity, or homework.
  • The practice worksheet has 14 questions for students to answers based off the notes.

Standards:

  • SWBAT represent logic statements in words and with symbols.
  • SWBAT represent logic operations such as and, or, not in words and with symbols.
