Description

Invention Convention: Learn about Inventors and Create Your Own Invention! This package includes engaging resources to complete an invention unit. Students learn about inventors and inventions and create their own invention project. Their "Invention to Change the World" is then displayed at a class Invention Convention. Everything needed is included - just print and teach!

✅All activities are classroom tested and include creative handouts, information sheets, and detailed instructions.

✅This works great as an individual class activity, or could easily be done as a grade or school wide fair!

This creative and engaging package includes the following:

⭐Steps of the Invention Process: A detailed information sheet describing the steps that inventors go through during the invention process. A valuable sheet for students to refer back to when constructing their own inventions for the Invention Convention! A blank not taking template is also included.

⭐Famous Inventors Research Project: Students choose a famous inventor, and use this sheet to create a written report on them.

⭐Type of Inventions Information and Worksheet: Students learn all about different types of inventions, and brainstorm their own invention types.

⭐Invention Convention Project Guidelines: Students use the instructions on this sheet to help them create their own "invention to change the world". Students must apply for a make believe patent, create a model of their invention, complete a logbook of the invention process, and create a poster to display alongside their invention at a classroom "Invention Convention". This works great as an individual class activity, or could easily be done as a grade or school wide fair! Detailed instructions included!

⭐Log Book Information: Students use this sheet to help them create log books to document the invention process while they create "inventions to change the world" for the Invention Convention.

⭐Student Patent Application: This is a make believe patent application for students to complete for the Invention Convention. Before creating their inventions, students must submit a patent application to the teacher. The teacher then has the opportunity to look over the patent, and decide if they approve of the project. If the project idea needs work, students have the opportunity to re-apply. If the project idea is approved, the teacher can stamp it and return it to the student. This is an excellent way to check on student progress, and to make sure that students are coming up with different ideas. (It will ensure that you don't end up with 30 of the same project!)

⭐Invention Planning Page: A planning page for students to illustrate, write about, and plan out their inventions is included.

⭐Invention Poster Template: Students use this template to help plan out their posters.

⭐List of Possible Project Ideas: Included is a list of projects that students have completed in my classroom in the past. These will help give students an idea of the kinds of things they can create for the project. This is also a valuable resource to refer back to when students are "stuck" and can't come up with an idea!

I assigned an Invention Convention project for my STEM class and decided on this for our primary materials. It is thorough and everything is laid out wonderfully. I especially appreciate the patent application- great experience for the students! The section on "types of inventions" was incredibly useful, too. Definitely recommend!
