Students will learn about the invention of pipe cleaners before using their problem solving skills in a related engineering activity. A great way to integrate STEM and ELA!
The “Who Invented …?” Series provides opportunities for students to learn about everyday items that many people frequently use and take for granted. After reading about the item and answering comprehension questions, students will either use those items in a different way or use the item in a short engineering challenge.
All packets includes: teacher notes, student reading passage, comprehension questions, a STEM challenge, inquiry questions, a rubric, engineering design process poster, and student job cards. Materials are simple and easy to find for each lesson.
Other lessons in the series include exploration of post-it notes, straws, binder clips, paper clips, and aluminum foil with more on the drawing board. Follow our store to be notified when new lessons are added. A discounted bundle with four of the lessons is also available.
