Day 1 Lesson
- Introduces inverse functions and focuses on process of finding the inverse of a LINEAR function algebraically. Students will graph functions to show that an inverse is a reflection across the line y = x and will fill in tables of values for functions and their inverses to show domains and ranges switch.
Day 2 Lesson
- Day 2 focuses on QUADRATIC and SQUARE ROOT functions and introduces the horizontal line test and one-to-one functions. Students will limit domains in their answers so that the inverse function is a true inverse of the original function and deal with limited domains in the problems so that the inverse is a function.
Day 3 Lesson
- Incorporates inverse of CUBIC/CUBE ROOT, EXPONENTIAL/LOGARITHMIC, and RATIONAL FUNCTIONS.
Day 4 Lesson
- Use a composition of functions to determine if two functions are inverse functions. Notes include 6 examples and assignment includes 14 problems.
Entrance/Exit Tickets - 1 entrance warm up and 1 exit ticket are included for each day - this totals 4 entrance ticket warm ups and 4 exit tickets.
These are lessons 3-6 in my Extra Topics Unit for Algebra 2. Concepts in the Extra Topics Unit can be taught altogether at the end of the year or separately as your scope and sequence allows. Curriculum is designed so that you can break up the lesson(s) as needed.
