Description

Celebrate the summer with a Watermelon Week! This unit is filled with activities, experiments, informational reading, poetry writing, maps, and even a fun Reader's Theater to perform! A great way to integrate science into many areas of the curriculum! This product includes the following:

- Colorful anchor charts

- Watermelon information to print or project that shows students the life cycle
of the watermelon, fascinating facts about this juicy fruit/vegetable, the
parts of a watermelon, as well as steps for growing and harvesting your
own garden!

- Four pages of informational reading for students to complete on their own,
along with multiple choice comprehension questions at the end

- A fun Reader's Theater--"The Shocking Saga of the Poisoned Watermelon" (A
TRUE story with a TRULY happy ending!)

- Two maps to complete about where watermelons are primarily grown both
in the United States and in the world

- A fun, easy recipe for a watermelon slush

- Science and higher level vocabulary words printed on cards to display in the

classroom

- Vocabulary activities and worksheets that are designed to be fun and
challenging to complete

- Cut, color, and paste watermelon life cycle

- Label the parts of a watermelon

- Watermelon estimation and measurement activities (standard and
nonstandard units)

- Bar graphs for students to create after finding out information from the class

about both watermelons and other types of fruit
