Students will use what they've learned about Jamestown to create a newspaper with four articles to reflect life in Jamestown. Templates and rubrics are included, and there's an editable version (Microsoft Word) if you want students to type theirs.

The Jamestown Settlement was the first successful, permanent American Colony. Turn this part of the social studies curriculum into a fun and entertaining time of the day for students with this download.

In their newspapers, students will create the following sections:
- A shocking Story (to reflect a real event)
- What's New and Exciting
- Someone You Should Know
- Classified (to market an item used in the colony)

Included in this download are:
- Teacher directions
- Two newspaper templates (one with directions, one with only subtitles)
- Activity Rubric with directions
- Project Timeline for when sections are due

*****This is a zip file because I included the original materials as a PDF file, but I also included a Microsoft Word version of the newspaper template with only subtitles. This way you can have it ready for students to type right into, and you (and they) don't have to create the template.

Newspapers can be created using computer software (Word, Publisher, etc.), which is what I normally use to give students exposure to word processing and design. It can also be done the good old fashioned way to make it look more authentic.

This makes a really great bulletin board.
