January Math Journals are a fun and engaging way to practice a variety of number sense skills. These journals are designed for spiral review and Common Core aligned. With Kindergarten students in mind, each month focuses on specific number sense skills and builds upon the previous month. January Math Journal is great to use as a warm up, during the lesson, or for extra practice during small group instruction. The directions are written so students can easily understand what is expected of them on each page.

Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.
Compare two numbers between 1 and 10 presented as written numerals.
