Description
JavaScript Punctuation
(This is an updated version of Secrets of the Curly Brace Languages.)
At first glance, computer languages look strange. Using normal English characters in odd ways, it seems almost impossible to decipher them.
This tutorial will help students decipher the punctuation that only programmers know about. They will be able to read most modern computer languages including Java, JavaScript, C, C++, C#, PHP, Pascal, Algol, AWK, and Perl.
The module explains, with code examples how to use curly braces, quotes, and semicolons.
It includes several interactive assessments having the student determine if an object is a variable or a String. A click and drag activity has students place the correct punctuation inside a code example.
On completion of this module the learner will be able to:
- List the punctuation symbols used by the curly brace languages.
- Use the curly braces correctly.
- Use the semicolon at the end of each line of code.
- Describe the exception of when not to include a semicolon on a line of code.
- Describe the difference between a String and a variable.
- Use the concatenation operator "+" appropriately when outputting Strings and variables.
This module includes five formats:
1) SCORM version that can be uploaded to your LMS such as Canvas and Moodle
2) HTML version that can be uploaded to your website or LMS.
3) Microsoft Word
4) PDF
5) Video with narration and closed-captioning - Hosted on EduVision, an educational-safe video platform without tracking or ads.
Here is a video showing how to publish your HTML and SCORM modules to Canvas and Moodle. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Adding-Articulate-Storyline-Tutorials-into-your-Course-Distance-Learning-3862967
