These Decodable Addition and Subtraction Word Problems within (to) ten are ideal for morning work, RTI, whole group instruction, math centers and/or as homework.
Including both reading and math, they are designed to help get the most out of every moment of instruction!
Each word problem was designed to support students' decoding skills, sight word vocabulary, and reading comprehension as they master math skills.
Working through this resource, students will read a multitude of CVC words, and demonstrate comprehension through the completion of addition and subtraction word problems.
35 Addition and Subtraction Word Problems within Ten are included. A cover is included for use in home learning packs or math journals.
The names in these word problems are CVC words. I have also included common sight words, color words, and a variety of decodable short vowel words.
As students complete these math tasks, they also refine their early literacy skills!
Each page is presented both in color and in an ink-saving black and white version.
Using Easel by TpT™ (the new TpT Digital Tool), this resource can be assigned through Google Classroom.
Each sheet includes an extension/bonus question at the bottom of the page.
These bonus questions can be used in a variety of ways. They are perfect for use as extension activities for students to discuss and complete at home with a family member.
When these word problems are used for whole-group instruction, it is common for some students to have completed tasks while others still need support.
“Early finishers” can read the bonus question, flip their paper over, and work on this challenge question while the teacher provides individual and/or small group instruction as needed.
In this way, these bonus questions help teachers differentiate during group lessons.
The preview shows over twenty of these word problems in full detail. Information is also provided in the preview about the benefits of using a number path, opposed to a number line.
