Kindergarten and first grade students can become sophisticated problem solvers! Daily opportunities to solve problems will greatly enhance students’ proficiency in all of the process standards set forth by NCTM, including problem solving, reasoning and proof, communication, connections, and representation.

This pack includes problems that are themed for each month and can be used as a problem of the day or as a part of your math instruction. They can be done in partners, individually, or projected on the SMART board or Promethean board with the whole class. I am now including the problems on strips which can be cut and glued into math journals or interactive notebooks!

Students will be encouraged to think about what the problem is asking and to discuss the problem and formulate a plan. Two organizers are included to help students through the problem solving process. This easy, low-prep problem solving pack is the perfect addition to your math instruction!
