Description

Use these sight word stackers to help reinforce basic sight word skills and cooperative learning! I created these to help my daughter in kindergarten practice her sight words at home. She BEGS to play the “tower” game, and can’t get enough!

This project includes the first 50 sight words in the English language. You will need to cut each sight word stacker out, then carefully bend them so that they can be stacked together to make a tower (instructions are included). To play with a partner, pass out sight word stackers to each partner-pair. Instruct the students to “quiz” each other on their sight word identification. If they get the word correct, they get to add their stacker to the tower. By working together on a common goal (building one tower together), your students can practice valuable cooperative learning skills. You can also create a game with competition by having each student build their own tower with their sight word stackers.

You can also incorporate math, science, and STEM skills by using these guiding questions:

“Who will have the tallest tower in the class?”
“How many Stackers tall will your tower be?”
“Can you make a hypothesis of how tall the tower will be before it falls over?”
