This kindergarten assessment packet is a carefully prepared protocol aligned with the Common Core. It is a comprehensive, yet handy compilation of skill assessment tasks in Reading, Writing and Math.

The tool is designed to be conducted one-on-one and provides the user a collection of critical baseline, midyear and year end data, highlighting students' skill development & acquisition throughout the school year, while being very user friendly!

Some parts can be done in small groupings if preferred. Each assessment task in the packet offers suggested language for the evaluator and includes graphics that keep collecting props to a minimum.

All assessment tasks have 3 sections for recording Beginning, Middle, End of year, keeping progress evidence together & easy to compare abilities from various points in the year.

Having this running inventory of kindergarten skills will allow you to see what your students need to know by the end of the year, what they presently know, & what they still need to learn. Also a GREAT TOOL in preparing for conferences!

Letter Identification, Letter-Sound Association, long & short vowels

Rhyming- discrimination & production

Phonemic Awareness-isolating, blending, segmenting sounds, sound substitution, syllables

Reading- listening comprehension, reading comprehension & conventions, Sight Vocabulary, Reading Level

Writing- mechanics, dictation, checklists for writing samples: Narratives, Informational & Opinion pieces.

The Math portion includes:

Counting & Cardinality-

Rote counting to 100 by 1s, 10s, 2s, 5s, counting on, comparing numbers within 10, one to one correspondence to 20, numeral identification 0-31, numeral formation

Numbers & Operations in Base Ten-

building teen numbers (and beyond) with base 10 + extras

Operations & Algebraic Thinking-

Building/extending patterns, position words, decomposing numbers within 10, compliments of 10 (number partners), fluency within 5, word problems

Geometry-

2D & 3D shapes

Measurement & Data-

Colors, sorting & classifying, non-standard measurement, interpreting data on a graph
