Description

I LOVE using Maria Dismondy books to promote kindness and character in my classroom. They are great at the beginning of the year, back to school, and throughout the school year!

There are writing prompts, a craft, and graphic organizers for each book! The activities included for this unit correspond with these SEVEN AMAZING books:

Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun
The Juice Box Bully
The Potato Chip Champ
Pink Tiara Cookies for Three
The Jelly Donut Difference
Chocolate Milk Por Favor
The Fruit Salad Friend

Graphic Organizers focus on Story Structure- Characters, Setting, Problem, Solution- Retelling a Story- Beginning, Middle, and End- Compare and Contrast, Describe Characters, etc.

Each story has at least TWO writing prompts with two different writing papers included.

There are also additional activities included for each book!
Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun- a FUN buddy activity to compare how we are similar and how we are different!
Potato Chip Champ- Students can complete a FAVORITE potato chip taste test and graph!
Pink Tiara Cookies for Three- Students can complete Friendship Files or Friendship Fun Questions to get to know each other better and practice being good friends!
The Jelly Donut Different- Students can complete a banner piece to display in the hallway with letters that spell out "Sprinkle Kindness"
Chocolate Milk Por Favor- Students can complete "Chocolate Milk Cheers" to get to know their classmates better!
The Fruit Salad Friend- Students can write a recipe (with ingredients and directions) for a true friend, write the lesson of the story, AND create their own fruit salad craft! There are also letters included to create your own bulletin board to spell out "Orange You Glad We're True Friends!"

I hope you and your students enjoy this unit!!

Happy Teaching!
