Description
This motion graphs BUNDLE for kinematics includes 88 presentation slides for teaching about graphing motion in high school Physics. It also includes a 9 page review handout summarizing both describing and interpreting motion graphs, plus relating them using slope and area.
The first lesson is all about teaching students how to describe and interpret motion graphs. In this lesson I introduce motion graphs, specifically I introduce students to d-t, v-t and a-t graphs. Students will begin with an investigation using a PhET simulation called The Moving Man. In this investigation, students will explore the effects of a moving object on position, velocity and acceleration graphs. Students will need to explore preconceptions, make predictions, test their predictions and reconcile any differences with results using the simulator. This is followed up with consolidation questions and summary notes to solidify understanding of motion graphs.
In the second lesson, students learn more about motion graphs, specifically we look at relating d-t, v-t and a-t graphs. In this comprehensive lesson on relating motion graphs, students and teacher will work through a detailed powerpoint describing step by step how to draw various motion graphs using slope and area calculations. This is followed up with consolidation questions, summary notes and a review handout to solidify understanding of motion graphs and how we can relate them to one another.
