LONG TERM SAVINGS - Real World Math Modeling Problem Solving Activity
Share

Description

LONG TERM SAVINGS focuses on exponential patterns as they represent real world situations about passive investment in an index fund as a vehicle for long term savings. This is an extended problem solving activity for use in Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 or Algebra 2. I use this with students in small groups working collaboratively through the activity.

I wrote problems like this because some of the things we were using in class were so dated, talking about keeping a paper checkbook or video game arcades at the mall...

This problem is an editable Google Doc, please feel free to edit the business names, quantitative information or anything you like to make this problem more relevant to your students NOW!

If you make a purchase please feel free to share with the rest of your department!

This is just a 2-page worksheet. It is extremely over-priced.

It is 2 pages... but it is definitely more than just a worksheet. This is a real world application of skills with expeonential growth equations. I'm happy to give you your money back, but what you have said is untrue. It's also fully editable for you to change values or contextual information so that you can create new/different versions of it easily for practice or assessment.
