Description
Why use this resource in your science class?
-eases grading while walking around the lab
-prints for use on a clipboard
-sets clear expectations for student responsibilities in lab
-it's customizable!
This resource includes an editable .docx file containing a rubric to grade student performance during a lab. I print this and place multiple copies on a clipboard so that I can easily flip and grade while I am walking around the laboratory.
At the beginning of lab, I give each lab group a handful of bingo chips. I encourage student responsibility in reading and following directions in lab. Therefore, if a group asks a question about lab procedures that is already in the directions, I ask them for a chip. Once a group reaches a 3 chip limit, I start deducting points. If students ask a clarifying question that shows they have read the instructions, I do not ask for a chip.
This resource is also available in a discounted lab assessment bundle, including lab notebook instructions for students, a lab notebook rubric, and the lab performance checklist. See https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Lab-Skills-Assessment-Bundle-EDITABLE-3913646
