Description

In this differentiated leaf counting activity, students will roll 1 or 2 dice to cover up a leaf. They will see how many turns it takes to "rake" up all the leaves. This is a great way to practice counting! There are three versions to choose from to best fit the needs of your students.

What Leaf Counting Activities Are Included?

  • Roll and Rake with 6 organized groups of 12 leaves using 1 die
  • Roll and Rake with 6 organized groups of 12 leaves using 2 dice
  • Roll and Rake with 4 organized lines of 9 leaves using 1 die
  • Roll and Rake with 4 organized lines of 9 leaves using 2 dice
  • Roll and Rake with 8 organized lines of 9 leaves using 2 dice

What Skills Do These Leaf Counting Activities Address?

  • Students will match dots to numerals.
  • Students will add two dice together to find the total.
  • Students will count up to 72 leaves.

  • K.CC.B.4 Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
  • K.CC.B.4a When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
  • K.CC.B.4b Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
  • K.OA.A.5 Fluently add and subtract within 5.
