Description

This two lesson mini-unit contains everything you need to teach your first and sceond graders about gravity! It includes a 22 slide animated power point presentation, two lesson plans, five printable pages and a STEM activity (egg drop) to do with your class complete with a questionnaire, student page and editable letter to parents!

Lesson one addresses the question: How does the force of gravity affect the Earth and other objects? Students will learn about Isaac Newton and the "apple tree fable." Students will also understand that gravity is dependant on mass in this lesson and that is why the planets revolve around the Sun and the moon revolves around the Earth.

Lesson two addresses the question: Why does the force of gravity pull us towards the center of the Earth? This lesson builds on the knowledge learned in lesson one that gravity is dependant on mass and will show students why (even though the Earth is round) we always feel as though we are standing straight up. Both lessons have an animated power point slides to guide you through the lesson as well as a 5-E style lesson plan format.

This lesson also comes with five printables!

Engaging and Hands-On Science Lessons! This two-lesson mini-unit on gravity was perfect for introducing my students to an important science concept. The PowerPoint presentation was clear and visually engaging, making it easy for my young learners to grasp how gravity works. The included STEM activity was a big hit—hands-on and fun, it really helped students apply what they learned and sparked lots of curiosity and questions. The lessons were well-organized and easy to follow, saving me prep time while delivering meaningful content. I highly recommend this mini-unit for any teacher wanting to bring science to life in an interactive and understandable way!
