• Successive blending boards are a great universal tool for students who struggle to decode due to deficits in working memory (the ability to store and manipulate information). Because the last letter in the word is hidden until the next slide, and it is expected that all students hold the first two sounds before moving to the next slide, all students blend and decode the words simultaneously! That means your struggling readers are not left behind to simply repeat the words they hear fluent readers decoding!
