Description
Trash or Treasure In this letter sound sorting activity, students sort pictures by initial consonant sounds. The students will classify picture cards into 2 groups: "Treasure" - begins with the letter sound or "Trash" - does not begin with the letter sound.
This pack is perfect to use when introducing each letter, as a review, morning work, morning meeting activity, homework, small group, RTI or centers to work on a letter! All you have to do is print and go.
During large Group or Centers, have the task cards with pictures of familiar objects beginning with the initial sounds and distracter cards printed. Put out a Trash Can and a Treasure Box. Crumple up the picture cards and throw them on the carpet in the middle of a circle, OR Hand out the picture card one at a time to your student, ask them to name the word, and place it into an appropriate container where they think it belongs. The students will classify picture cards into 2 groups: "Trash" or "Treasure".

1. Letter Sound Picture Task Cards (6 - 8 pictures for each letter) black and white graphics for each letter of the alphabet.
2. Trash or Treasure Worksheet Activity: classify 8 picture cards into 2 groups
3. Trash or Treasure Poem for the students to recite before choosing a task card.
