Description

Level 4 - Color Your Own Pattern Building Activity – a favorite that we are happy to share with you, especially designed to develop attention to detail through symmetry and mirror imaging.

Children love to play and learn the best through their own explorations. Our activities cater to the anthroposophical approach to learning, nurturing the child holistically, through intellectual, artistic, and practical skills. The learning theories of Montessori education are an integral part of these activities, supporting the child’s sensorial development from concrete experiences toward an abstract understanding. It is through their own discoveries and Aha! moments, supported by the inbuilt self correction that these games support a deeper learning. We hope that you will value the experience of this activity, and feel inspired to continue to explore our other games and activities.

Have students enjoy making their own game, and have fun playing it too. Educational coloring activities to develop concentration, creativity, focus, mathematical thinking, visual discrimination, flexibility, special perception, symmetry, and fine motor skills. Choose to do it either as a whole group activity or individually.

This is also an excellent activity for children with concentration difficulties. Over five years of research has shown great improvement in children working regularly with our games and activities. Feel free to contact us to know more about our research: aurogames-kalvi@auroville.org.in

This activity pack supports three lesson plans, clear step-by step teacher directions/tips, and student-friendly guided directions. See a video of children engaging in the activity here: http://youtu.be/sBgHfyxoLfs

Through the lessons the students create their own game, to be played in the last lesson. The pack comes with two lesson worksheets, through which puzzle Base Cards (25) and Complex Patterns (4 to choose from) are colored.

Materials Needed:

· Printed Coloring Sheets and Instruction Sheets, one of each for each student. Printer settings: Size to fit page.

· Glue

· Scissors

· Color pencils or water color pencils

· Cardboard (cereal carton or other)

· If needed: small frameless mirror and transparent plastic sheet

Though it was meant as a gift for a neighbors child, I enjoyed trying it myself too. Many hours of focus and fun.

My teenage daughter loved the intricacies of colouring the card and was absorbed in the activity for hours, working precisely and fully engaged. She enjoyed the activity and was even inspired to create her own!

Started working with a small group of 4th graders. They all chose 1 pattern to color. When completed it was unanimous - they wanted to continue to color all 4 patterns. We meet once a week and they continue coloring and playing. They are becoming very focused and creative. They are inventing new ways to use the materials they created.

Amazing resource! It's clear that it has actually been tested on kids -I like the instructions that include notes on how to support kids to carry out the task if they find it too challenging. It makes it more accessible to different types of students and supports teachers and parents in this.

After doing the level 1 activity with my 4 year old daughter I downloaded this product for myself out of curiosity. I spent many hours colouring and creating the game and enjoyed it a lot. I highly recommend this for older kids, and even adults!
