Description
This Leveled Fact Practice for Multiplication is the way to go if you want your students to be motivated to learn their facts. Each student begins at Level 1 learning easy facts, and they move their way through the levels which get more challenging as they go. There are 26 levels of facts with 2 sheets per level. The left side of the page is an untimed practice which is used as a warm up (I give them 2-3 minutes). The right side is a one minute timing. I have my kids pass up a level if they miss 5 or less problems, but you could set that at any number. If they miss more than 5 problems, they stay at that same level the next day. I post the answer keys around the perimeter of the classroom – we only grade the timed piece. Students can trade and grade or grade their own before turning in. Organizing ahead of time will make things easier as well. I have a file box set up with about 50 copies of each level in different folders. My morning helper takes the papers that were turned in from the previous day, and she/he looks at each student's number correct to determine the level. My helpers write their names on the new sheets of whatever level they are on whether they stay the same or pass up a level. They can then pass them out whenever you choose to do fact practice. This could even be done during Math Centers or Math Stations if you choose. As students pass levels, they can color the corresponding number on the track. I made two race tracks, one in color and one in black & white for your preference.
Each level is compiled the following way: One half encompasses the new facts that are introduced and the other half is a review of previously introduced facts.
Level 1 – x 1
Level 2 – x 0
Level 3 – x 10
Level 4 – x 5
Level 5 – 2 x 2, 2 x 3, 2 x 4
