Part One: Ranked List

Students will rank their favorite spring flowers. This activity encourages them to identify their favorite blooms of the spring season. As part of this exercise, students will also write a blog identifying the best flowers that make spring beautiful.


Key AASL Standards Addressed:

  • 1.1.4: Find, evaluate, and select appropriate sources to answer questions.
  • 3.1.2: Participate and collaborate as members of a social and intellectual network of learners.
  • 4.1.8: Use creative and artistic formats to express personal learning.

Part Two: Shared Traits Lists

In the second part of the activity, students will create shared traits lists, such as flowers that attract pollinators. This activity promotes critical thinking and classification skills as students analyze and categorize types of flowers based on their characteristics. They will research and compile lists for various shared traits, enhancing their ability to organize and synthesize information.
