About the store
The Alternative Way To Pre-K is dedicated to accessibility, neurodiverse-affirming practices, and creating a more inclusive world by supporting educators, paraprofessionals, related service providers, parents/guardians, and students. I aim to empower you to effectively implement equitable practices and support all learners through developmentally appropriate practice, alternative augmentative communication, progress over perfection, and resources that meet your student's unique skill set. I taught special education preschool in the public school system in a self-contained classroom for nine years. I am now a learning support specialist in a private preschool, where I continue to serve and advocate for the special education, neurodiverse, and disability communities.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Being diagnosed with OCD, anxiety, ADHD, and an auditory processing disorder as a child has allowed me to connect with my students in a more effective and intimate way. I am able to understand their needs more concretely which allows me to create resources more effectively. I am proud to be neurodivergent. It not only makes me who I am but makes me a better educator.

My own education history

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Special Education, a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, and a Master of Science in Special Education. I have also completed coursework through RESNA (Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America). I hold my professional teaching license in South Carolina and New York.
