- Concept Introduction: An overview of the new feature, sound identification practice, spelling practice, and a set of 48 words for students to decode and read repeatedly to improve fluency.
- Picture-Word Matching: Students build decoding, spelling, and vocabulary skills through this activity in which they are provided with a word bank of 15 decodable words containing the focus features. They are required to read the words and write them next to the corresponding images.
- Picture-Phrase Matching: Students continue to apply decoding skills as well as knowledge of new vocabulary and high-frequency words to read 10 decodable phrases/short sentences containing the focus feature and match them with corresponding images.
- Spelling Practice & NWF: 6 images that represent phonetically spelled words with the focus features. Students fill in the missing letters to spell words. This page also includes 2 word chaining exercises and a set of nonsense words for students to practice decoding unfamiliar words and improve their Nonsense Word Fluency.
- Short Passage Reading: Students are presented with a set of 4 decodable short passages to practice finding words with the featured grapheme and repeatedly reading those words within context.
- Reading Assessment: A set of real words, high-frequency words (including both Dolch and Fry first 1,000 words), sentences, and nonsense words containing the focus feature(s) to allow the teacher to measure mastery of the concept.
- Spelling Assessment: A blank spelling sheet along with an answer key that contains a list of 10 words with the focus feature(s) to allow the teacher to measure mastery of encoding words.
