Description

Literal Equations put the fun in Functions! 16 problems and one bonus problem for students learning how to solve equations for specific variables. For the low, low price of whatever it says over on the right there, you get:
-The 16 +1 problems riddle-sheet
-The same 16 problems in a regular sheet form.
-The riddle sheet key
-The regular sheet key with the problems worked-out.
I looked all over for a good literal equation sheet but couldn't find it. My students love riddle sheets, so I hope you'll like it, too! Great for an Algebra 1 class at any level.

Hey you! Yes You! Need a better way to introduce equations? Here's a whole unit I made on balance problems and how they relate to equations. It pairs up the concrete with the symbolic in steps that helped my kids all make the leap with greater understanding. Hopefully, you'll find it useful, too!

Here's a free Distance Rate Time problem organizer, too!

Like videos? Me too! Here's something fun about division of fractions.

Understand that rewriting an expression in different forms in a problem context can shed light on the problem and how the quantities in it are related. For example, 𝘢 + 0.05𝘢 = 1.05𝘢 means that “increase by 5%” is the same as “multiply by 1.05.”
Create equations and inequalities in one variable and use them to solve problems.
Rearrange formulas to highlight a quantity of interest, using the same reasoning as in solving equations. For example, rearrange Ohm’s law 𝘝 = 𝘭𝘙 to highlight resistance 𝘙.
