Description

This no-prep, copy-and-go Literature Menu Set was developed to supplement the text A Bumpy Ride by Sharon Katz Cooper and Rachel Young.

This is the PDF format of the literature menu set. The DIGITAL format can be found HERE.

This menu allows your students to revisit a previously read text while incorporating student choice during independent work stations or centers. There are enough activities in this menu set for at least one week of center work time.

With this menu, students complete 1 or 2 "Must Do" activities and then choose from 6 "May Do" activities.

  • "Must Do" Activity #1: booklet (reading reflections, main idea & summary, inferring with a picture, vocabulary 5-square, comprehension quiz)
  • "Must Do" Activity #2: graphic organizer using evidence from the text
  • "May Do" Activities: Define It, Create It, Write It, Quiz It, Connect It Across Genres, Compare It
  • There are 4 versions of the menu included - all versions are identical, except for the "Compare It" activity (one version allows students to compare two of Edison's inventions, the other version allows students to compare this text with a picture book that can easily be found at the library or bookstore).

All necessary pages (menus, booklet, graphic organizer, sheets for each menu choice) are included in the download - simply print and use!

Please note - the text is NOT included with this download.

A student-friendly rubric is also included for students to rate their own menu work, as well as an answer key for the comprehension quiz.
