Description

Living in Math Project is a way for students to see that math continues with them throughout their lives. Everyone uses math, not only in their professions, but also in their daily home lives. Students will conduct 3 interviews (1 by email, 1 with a school staff member, 1 with a community member) to see how they use math. Once the interviews are completed, students compare and discuss the data to create a project that will be presented to the class. Common Core reading and math standards are directly aligned. Inside the unit are teacher directions, timelines for teachers and parents, printables to send home, accomodations for below level learners, and extension projects that can be included.
