Description
This set includes 5 different versions of Locked Out! Just add your own task cards, flash cards, prompts, etc. and you are ready to play. This open ended board game has movable numbers and is ideal for online teaching during distance learning or in class play using PowerPoint or Google slides (directions to convert to Google slides are listed under Game Prep).
A set of kid friendly directions is included on the first slide.
Game Directions/Ideas
•Divide group into 4 teams and share the game board screen with students online. Remember to use edit mode for numbers to be movable during play.
•In round robin fashion, ask a question to one person in the group. If the question is answered correctly, student chooses any number on the game board and teacher uncovers the square. Move the used number off of the game board.
•If the square contains a key, the student earns a tally point for his/her team.
•However, if the square contains a lock, the student has been locked out and all of the team’s tally marks are lost. Please feel free to adapt directions for your group. For example, the team could lose only one tally point instead of all of them, or just lose a turn.
•Feel free to load on any student devices that accept PowerPoint or convert to Google slides. Student can then play the game with up to 3 other players.
Ideas for open ended games:
•Almost any set of task cards, scoot cards, or flash cards can serve as game cards. Teacher selects a card and reads the question to the student. Student responds and then chooses a number to be uncovered.
•Learners can also respond to teacher oral questions/prompts and then choose a card to be uncovered to play the game. This works well during individual instruction, speech therapy, small group intervention, or guided reading/math groups.
Game Prep:
