Description

There are 1,000 lockers.

Suppose the first student goes along the row of lockers and opens every locker.

The second student then goes along and shuts every second locker.

A pattern continues.

Imagine that this pattern continues for a thousand students. At the end, which lockers will be open and which will be closed? Explain.

Students are provided with a table to help keep track of which lockers are open or closed. There is a blank table and a table with 2 rows filled in. Choose the option that works best for your class.
