Description

This unit focuses on Making Connections and using Prior Knowledge to write THICK THINKING responses to fictional reading. The PowerPoint includes the Info-Fiction lesson. Informational text meets fiction in an engaging, visual story. The "teacher" is explicitly teaching how to write a reading response. The format makes it effortless to prepare. The story lesson teaches itself. All you have to do is click and let you natural teaching skills emerge! A Graphic Organizer, a template for Reading Response Cards, an assistive bookmark, and basic instructions are all included. Great for Shared Reading, as a non-fictional text. Great for Shared Writing, as a tool to teach deeper comprehension thinking. Appeals to visual learners. (An asset to have the picture book, "Ben at Night" by Sarah Ellis, but not necessary.)

I wasn't sure if the main focus was connections or citing evidence.
