Description
This simulation can be used within several grades, depending on the level of your students. I recommend this for advanced 3rd grade, 4th grade and beginning of the year 5th grade.
There are 14 pages of simulating opening and operating a skating rink! (also INCLUDES 14 page ANSWER KEY)
Students are asked to add, subtract, multiply and divide their way through this packet as they determine start up and operating costs for their skating rink!
Numbers go up into seven digits.
Difficulty level can be adjusted by allowing the use of calculators.
Students will multiply, divide, add and subtract large numbers, they will fill in charts and interpret data.
To make it more fun for the student, I have added a few customizable parts. They will be able to name and draw parts of their business during the process.
The amount of time spent on this simulation is up to the instructor and the performance level of the students. You can choose to use this as a grab and work project for early finishers, a one block lesson, a snow or vacation packet, or a week long project where you allow students to complete two or three pages per day.
