Students can work independently, in pairs, or groups to solve the questions to get to the end! Just print, cut, and place the questions around the room or halls.

This low-prep activity is great for students to review and practice multiplication! They can work independently, or they can work in pairs and groups-- thinking and negotiating about the correct answer. Great for promoting collaboration, co-operation, and accountable talk!

This scavenger hunt is appropriate for Grade 4.

This Multiplication Scavenger Hunt can be used as a wrap-up of the unit or even as an end-of-year review. The printable version can be great to get students moving around the classroom and school while reviewing and thinking their way through. The recording sheet has space for students to show their work and record their thinking.

The digital version includes a code at the end (i.e., the order of the station letters) to record as well as a section where students can upload an image of their work to show you. This is ideal for virtual settings or even when students need extra practice at home.

Grade 4:

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.4.OA.A.1

Interpret a multiplication equation as a comparison, e.g., interpret 35 = 5 × 7 as a statement that 35 is 5 times as many as 7 and 7 times as many as 5. Represent verbal statements of multiplicative comparisons as multiplication equations.

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.4.OA.A.2

Multiply or divide to solve word problems involving multiplicative comparison, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem, distinguishing multiplicative comparison from additive comparison.1

It also meets the following Ontario Grade 4 Curriculum Expectations:

B2.2 recall and demonstrate multiplication facts for 1 × 1 to 10 × 10, and related division facts

B2.5 represent and solve problems involving the multiplication of two- or three-digit whole numbers by one-digit whole numbers and by 10, 100, and 1000, using appropriate tools, including arrays
