Description

Introducing new concepts and skills in math can be completely overwhelming.

Where do you start? How do you break it down step by step for the students? How do you make it visual and concrete, so they have a strong understanding of the what and why behind the math?

The goal of Intro To Math is to give you a step by step guide as you introduce new skills. Students will be given opportunities to practice and model their new learning throughout the slides. Each slide will break down the skill in the simplest form, while aiming to show visuals that help build a strong mathematical foundation. My hope with Into To Math is to take some of the heavy lifting off your shoulders, so that you can use your energy to foster conversations and build a deeper understanding with your students.

What is in this product:

You will get a 25 slide powerpoint that walks through how to introduce standard algorithm multiplication. The slides can be projected on the board or sent out on student devices. There is also a link to a 1o minute teacher tutorial video. In this video I will walk you through how I would use the slides to introduce the skill to my students. Each slide will be modeled and explained so that you can feel confident when applying it in your own classroom.

Content included:

These slides will introduce 2 digit by 1 digit standard algorithm multiplication by relating it to partial product and place value block models. Before using these slides you may want to pre-teach what partial products are and how to use them. Regrouping is NOT addressed in this product.
